Two-day training on scientific Mithun husbandry concludes

The ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun conducted a two-day training programme on “Scientific Mithun Husbandry for Enhanced Productivity and Profitability” on August 14.

MEDZIPHEMA, AUGUST 14 (MExN): The ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun on Thursday concluded a two-day training programme on “Scientific Mithun Husbandry for Enhanced Productivity and Profitability” aimed at improving farmers’ knowledge and skills in scientific practices for better productivity and sustainability in Mithun farming.

A total of 26 farmers from Kamjong district, Manipur participated in the programme, which combined theory sessions with practical demonstrations. Experts and scientists from the centre covered topics including Mithun rearing practices, disease management, value addition, breeding, and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Practical sessions included demonstrations on Mithun casting, restraining, and farm routines, as well as discussions on breeding management and bull selection. Participants also interacted with scientists to gain insights into improving productivity and profitability.

The programme sought to equip farmers with hands-on skills and scientific knowledge to promote sustainable Mithun farming in the region.
