The ongoing eighth session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Tuesday passed two government Bills—the Nagaland Town and Country Planning (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2025 and the Nagaland Shops and Establishments (First Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Both Bills were moved by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and had been introduced on the floor of the House on Monday.
NLA speaker Sharingain Longkumer made an obituary reference to the passing away of Late Dr. Longrineken, former member of NLA.
The House observed a minute silence in respect of the departed soul.
Earlier, Rio presented the annual administrative reports for 2025–26 of several departments, including Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Ltd, Technical Education, Water Resources, Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Sericulture, New and Renewable Energy, and Food and Civil Supplies.
Deputy chief ministers Y Patton and T R Zeliang, along with ministers K G Kenye (Power), C L John (Environment, Forests and Climate Change), Metsubo Jamir (Rural Development), Salhoutuonuo Kruse (Women Resource Development) and Temjen Imna Along (Higher Education), also presented the annual administrative reports of their respective departments for 2025–26.
Later, Public Accounts Committee chairperson Mhathung Yanthan presented the 139th, 140th, 141st and 142nd reports of the committee for 2025–26 on action taken by the government on observations and recommendations contained in earlier reports based on the Comptroller and Auditor General of India audit reports on the state finances for 2017–18 and 2018–19.
