Two women wrestlers from Nagaland set to compete at Senior Federation Cup

Kohima, February 10 (MExN): Two women wrestlers from the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), along with their coach, have left for Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, to participate in the 2026 Senior Federation Cup scheduled from February 12 to 14.

The Nagaland contingent includes women wrestlers Vekhonielu Curhah and Putifi Sharu Pfithu, accompanied by coach Vilhou Lhousa.

The championship, featuring freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s wrestling events, will be held at Dasna, Ghaziabad, under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India.

According to a press statement issued by NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho, the team departed from Dimapur early on February 10 and is expected to return to Nagaland on February 16.

The participation was approved following an invitation from the Wrestling Federation of India, based on their performance at the 2025 Senior National Wrestling Championship, it said. 

A brief send-off ceremony was held on February 9 at the NWA office on New Secretariat Road, Kohima, where the wrestlers were encouraged and prayed for ahead of the competition.
