Kohima, June 11 (MExN): The National People’s Party (NPP) launched the campaign for their candidate, Sonuo Yanger for Ward 18 (Merhülietsa and Lower Agri Colony) in the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) Elections in Kohima at Molu Ki on June 11. Sonuo Yanger is contesting in Ward 18 even though it is not a women reservation seat, stated a press release received here.
Dr Keviseto Kintso, President of NPP Kohima delivered the welcome address, highlighting the significance of the upcoming elections and the party's commitment to positive change.
Dr Tseilhoutuo (D Ato), MLA of the 9th Kohima Town A/C addressed the campaign. Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem respresentative also spoke during the function.
Sonuo Yanger, in her speech outlined her vision for Ward 18, focusing on development, inclusivity, and transparency.
The programme was graced by the presence of several prominent national level leaders of NPP, including James PK Sangma, National General Secretary Organization, NPP; Nicky Nungkhlaw, National NPYF President; Audrey, State Mahila President NPP; Hiketo Shohe, State General Secretary Organization.
During his address, James PK Sangma highlighted that the party was founded by a “Christian minority tribal from the northeast and emphasized its ongoing mission to address the challenges faced by the ethnic people of Northeast India in the national parliament.”
