The Unified Minority Students Union (UMSU) of Dimapur Government College (DGC) organized its first fresher’s meet on August 24, at BSNL Community Hall, Kevijau Colony, Dimapur.


A press release issued by Rupi Narzary General Secretary; UMSU Dimapur stated that the Chief Guest for the programme was Bishnu Bhattacharjee, social worker & President NPF Minority Wing, Central. Bhattacharjee encouraged the freshers and the youth to emphasize on technical education & skill development, to compete in national level in the field of employment. 


“This kind of united student’s forum is the asset of the Nation and it is the need of the hour”, he said. Other speakers of the programme were Raju Rao, President UMSU, Sailendra from BSNL and Rajat Ghosh, General Secretary Dimapur Bengali Students Union. The programme also included a cultural show of songs and dances. The main highlight of the programme was the Mister and Miss fresher competition. Anjali Devi was declared as the Miss freshers and Morengam Lamkang as the Mr Freshers. Vote of thanks was delivered by Ruipa Narzary, GS of the Unified Minority Students Union and Benediction was given by Jenny.


Meanwhile, the release also mentioned that the UMSU was formed in the year 2018 by united Non-Naga students of Dimapur Government College for welfare of the students.
