Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): The United Naga Council of Manipur (UNC) has reiterated that it would support the Naga People’s Front (NPF) during the coming Manipur assembly elections “taking into account the situation of the Nagas in Manipur and the commonality in principle and ideology with the NPF on the political agenda of the Nagas.”
The declaration is a “logical extension of the discussions and decisions taken in the series of presid the publicity cell of the UNC said in a note today. “The federal assembly of the UNC held on the 2nd of January, 2012 resolved that the Naga People’s Front would be supported in the ensuing 10th general assembly election to be held on 28th January, 2012.
The resolution was adopted taking into account the situation of the Nagas in Manipur and the commonality in principle and ideology with the NPF on the political agenda of the Nagas.” The UNC has also resolved to “check and control unfair means” by political parties and candidates and to “control extravagant spending in feasting and luring of voters with money or in any other manner.” This is to be enforced by the concerned tribe units/district organization, the UNC added.
