DIMAPUR, FEB 20 (MExN): Questioning on whether Nagas need a new nomenclature for unity, the Federal Government of Nagaland through a Tatar (MP) named RR Salouni Rekhwelo stated that following the suggestion, “some Nagas who are in the factions or groups think that such a nomenclature should be applied for unity” as they simply compare such an arrangement to “Indian political parties” and change names whenever they need to. Reiterating that the Naga national Council is not a political party but a national institution, an article received here said to have a new nomenclature means to relinquish the historical platform, NNC “which is not acceptable to the Nagas who love their nation.” Stating that Muivah and Isak have failed because they have no historical background, the article said the Nagas therefore need not have a new modality or name for national unity except to unite with the NNC. “If any Naga talks about a new nomenclature for unity, he/she is against the national unity and sovereignty.”
Quoting Muivah’s speech which was delivered during the 4th consultative meeting at Hebron last year, wherein the NSCN (IM) leader had said that the NNC leaders made the leeway in the Naga struggle, the writer of the article said Muivah’s words clearly show that he had admitted that the NSCN has failed “and he wanted to direct his NSCN cadres to rejoin the NNC or perish together with the NSCN.”
