Rockfall barriers along the Tsiedukhru Range stretch of National Highway H-29 are seen uprooted at two locations on September 28. During PIL (Suo Motu) proceedings on September 24, the contractor informed the Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench that while it had earlier committed to complete the remaining slope management and rockfall barrier works by November 30, 2025, new incidents required submission of an additional affidavit. The Court was informed during the proceedings that the incidents included a massive landslide between Chainages 124–128 on September 14 that halted traffic for a substantial period. The Authority Engineer NHIDCL also informed that a DPR consultant has been appointed to propose permanent solutions to recurring landslides, rockfalls, and sinking in the stretch between Chainages 124–128 and near the River Chathe. He added that the consultant has submitted a feasibility report, which NHIDCL is analysing at the highest level to work out a long-term solution, seeking one month’s time. The Court granted the requests and fixed the next hearing for October 29, 2025, directing all parties to update the status. On Sunday, the barriers were seen breached in several other locations.
