Upgradation work of NH 61 underway

Kohima, October 11 (DIPR): Nagaland PWD (National Highways) is taking up strengthening and upgradation of NH 61 from 0.00 KM (TCP Gate) to 6.00 KM (IG Stadium). Work commenced on October 10.
Commissioner & Secretary Works & Housing Department, Temjen Toy has stated in an appeal letter to the public that while works are carried out between 6 PM to 6 AM, the portion of WMM (Wet Mix Macadam) base laid during the night has to be left for curing for at least 24 hours before priming is done after which it has to be left again for another 24 to 36 hours before laying of the BM (Bituminous Macadam) and SDBC (Semi Dense Bituminous Concrete). The works up to Peraciezie (High School/Secretariat junction) is likely to take at least up to the end of November 2011.
Since the stretch passes through the main town, traffic congestion has become inevitable and the Department is committed to ensure that quality works is carried out in the shortest possible time.  Therefore the Department appeals to the public in general to bear with the inconveniences and abide by the revised traffic regulations as brought out by SP Kohima. All Office goers and public travelling north towards the New Capital Complex are advised to use the alternate road from Naga Hospital to Pezieliecie (Tin Pati).
