Mon, May 20 (MExN): District Health Society Mon launched the five-day induction training for Urban ASHAs under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) on May 20. The training, held at the conference hall, CMO office, Mon will culminate on May 25, stated a press release received here.
The resource persons, Subonglemla Jamir Consultant, NUHM, Kohima District, Sentirenla Longchar Consultant, NUHM, Mokokchung District, and Chubala Pongen conducted sessions on Being an ASHA; ASHA Activities; ASHA Essential Skills; Maternal Health; Child Health; Home Based Newborn Care (HBNC); incentives; Recording and Reporting.
Earlier, Dr Supongmenla Walling, CMO Mon welcomed the resource individuals from the State and new Urban ASHAs of Mon town. She asked the participants to learn all of the topics covered during the five days in order to improve their knowledge and become sincere and well-equipped ASHAs.
Dr Aonungdok Tushi Ao Dy, CMO and nodal officer for ASHAs programme, share a brief background about the concept of ASHA. He explained that ASHAs are the first point of contact with the community, which is why they play an important role in the health department.
Chubala Pongen, Senior Programme Manager (Community Processes) State Programme Management Unit, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare also spoke during the programme.
