It has been the prayer and deep yearning of the Naga people that the Naga Reconciliation: A Journey of Common Hope is accomplished at the highest level between the signatories of the Covenant of Reconciliation (COR). It is self-evident that the proposed highest level meeting is of absolute necessity if genuine and lasting reconciliation is to be achieved based on the historical and political rights of the Nagas.
At this crucial hour, with the impending Highest Level Reconciliation meeting, the Forum for Naga Reconciliation implores the signatories of the COR and the Naga public to remain vigilant against internal and external forces that may be opposed to the Reconciliation process. It is the mandate of the Naga people that the top leaders of the Naga political groups gather to decisively harvest the Reconciliation process, and therefore all steps must be taken to safeguard the sanctity of the meeting.
The realization of the Highest Level reconciliation meeting should hasten the will of the people. Therefore the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, with immediate effect calls upon the Naga political groups to stand down and desist from any provocative steps – in action or in words – which may endanger the Reconciliation process. The Naga political groups are further urged to uphold and respect their pledge to resolve all outstanding differences through non-violence. Any individual or group working against the Naga people’s call for the Highest Level reconciliation meeting will be accountable to the Naga people.
