Zunheboto, December 28 (MExN): Usütomi village was declared ‘Tobacco Free Village’ under the initiative of Usütomi Students' Union and Usütomi Village Council on December 27. Usütomi is the second village to be declared ‘Tobacco Free Village’ under Zunheboto district, stated a press release receive here.
The award/certificate of ‘Tobacco Free Village’ was presented by Dr H. Hotokhu Chishi, Joint director H&FW, Government of Nagaland and State Nodal officer National Tobacco Control Programme during the penalty shootout tourney cum inaugural programme of the 58th annual session of the Usütomi Students Union.
USU, president, Toino Awomi in his address mentioned that ban of selling and chewing tobacco in any form was strictly enforced by students’ body, council and STH Usütomi and since then the ban has been successfully implemented.
During the programme, Dr. H. Hotokhu Chishi emphasised upon the adverse effects of usage of tobacco, he further encouraged and appreciated the student body and council for the successful implementation on ban of tobacco in any form.
Furthermore, the penalty shootout tourney was graced by Joseph Hesso, IPS DIG (HQ) as special guest.
