V Movi Institute of Fashion Designing inaugurates new facility in Chumou

Chumoukedima, March 13 (MExN): The new facility of V. Movi Institute of Fashion Designing was formally inaugurated at Chumoukedima on March 13 in a programme attended by community members, students, well-wishers and invited guests.

Imlibenla Wati Nienu, President of the Forerunners Society, attended the event as the special guest and inaugurated the premises with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The programme began with an invocation offered by Pastor Keviyalie Rume of CBC Unity Village.

Delivering the welcome address, proprietor Vilhousa Movi expressed gratitude to those present for their support and encouragement. He stated that the institute was established with the vision of equipping young people with practical skills in fashion designing and tailoring so that they can become self-reliant and pursue meaningful careers.

Movi also informed that the institute offers multiple courses including cutting and tailoring, fashion designing, beauty and wellness, modelling and computer skills approved by the technical department, Government of Nagaland, and noted that it is among the few institutes in the region providing such training.

In her address, Nienu stated that the inauguration represented “not merely the opening of a building but the beginning of opportunities, creativity, and dreams for many young people.” She observed that society often places excessive importance on white-collar employment, leading many youths to overlook their natural talents.

Highlighting changing global trends, she noted that fields such as fashion, design, entrepreneurship and creative arts now offer significant opportunities for growth and success.

Nienu commended the founder for investing in the future of local youth and creating opportunities within the community. She encouraged students to believe in themselves, remain dedicated and persevere through challenges, adding that talent combined with hard work leads to success.

She also stressed the importance of preserving cultural identity, noting that fashion can be a powerful platform to showcase the rich heritage and traditions of the Naga people.

A highlight of the event was a fashion extravaganza presented by students of the institute, where they showcased their creativity, craftsmanship and technical skills.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks acknowledging the special guest, participants, organisers and supporters who contributed to the event, followed by fellowship over high tea.
