Dimapur, October 14 (MExN): Condolences and tributes continued for veteran politician and Nagaland Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Justice & Law, Late CM Chang, who passed away on October 12 at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK).
ENPO: The Eastern Nagaland Peoples, Organization (ENPO) has expressed shock and sadness over the untimely demise of its tall leader who always stood for the people and immensely contributed towards the welfare of the people of Nagaland.
Chang’s demise is a great loss for the people of Eastern Nagaland in particular and the Nagas in general and has created a huge vacuum which would be hard to fill, ENPO said in a condolence note.
“The ENPO conveys heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and pray that Almighty God comfort them and give strength and courage to bear the loss. May the departed soul find solace in eternal peace,” it added.
Khiamniungan Tribal Council: Late CM Chang was a prominent politician, an upright and a tall leader of Eastern Nagaland in particular and the state in general and his death has caused a great vacuum which would be difficult to fill, stated the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) in a condolence note.
“The KTC convey condolence to the bereaved family members to grant solace and comfort at this time of grief and pray that the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” it added.
Konyak Union: On behalf of the Konyak community, the Konyak Union conveyed condolences to Chang’s bereaved family on Wednesday.
“A tall figure and an influential person, Late CM Chang had contributed immensely towards the welfare of the Naga people especially the Eastern Naga people. His visionary works and contribution towards the upliftment of the people will be deeply cherished and remembered,” the KU said in its condolence message.
“His death has left a vacuum which shall be difficult to fill,” it added.
Zeliangrong Baudi (N): The Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland described Chang as a man of dedication who stood for what he believed in.
“He was one among many Nagas who loves and admired the Zeliangrong people and stood for the unity, integrity and cause of our people,” the ZB (N) said in its condolence message.
It said that the deceased minister married the niece of Rani Gaidinliu and was also one of the Advisors of Rani Gaidinliu Memorial Trust and a strong supporter of Zeliangrong Homeland from 1980 till his last breath. He also stood behind Gaidinliu in good and bad times, it added.
“In his demise, we have lost a great soul, a friend and brother-in-law of the Zeliangrong people,” ZB (N) said as it conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
MCD: The Muslim Community of Dimapur also paid tributes to the departed leader and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
In a press release, the Muslim Council Dimapur fondly remembered CM Chang’s “visionary leadership, courage and wisdom,” and said that he was a well-wisher of our community since the time he was serving as an IAS.
At this hour of immense grief, we the Muslim Council Dimapur offer our profound tribute to the departed soul and will pray that the soul may rest in peace, the release stated.
