Porba, May 16 (MExN): T Esther Longkumer, SMS (Soil Science), KVK Phek, NRC on Mithun (ICAR) at Porba, conducted vocational training programme on Vermicompost Production for four days from May 12 to 15.
A detailed lecture was delivered on the importance, benefits of vermicomposting, different methods adopted in making of vermicompost, application to crops and as a source of income generation. Vermicomposting practices followed in different places were made available to the farmers through video presentation.
On the last day of the programme, demonstration on step-by-step procedure of vermicompost preparation was shown to the farmers. Vermibeds and earthworms were also distributed to the participants. Altogether five persons participated in the programme.
