VHC communitization conference held

Tuensang, February 11 (MExN): A communitization conference of the chairmen and secretaries of Health Centre Management Committee, Sub-centre Village Health committee, Village Health Committee of Village Health and Sanitation Committee under Tuensang district was held on February 9 at the conference hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s office, Tuensang.
A note received here stated that the meeting was attended by deputy director NSG, Maryangla and deputy director Amongla. Chairing the meet, deputy CMO Tuensang, Dr. Thanghoi Lam emphasised on strengthening the main aims of reducing Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Total Fertility Rate (TFR).  While thanking the VHCs for their good work at the village level, deputy director NSG, Maryangla expressed hope that the committees would utilise their funds in a beneficial manner so that health does not remain a stumbling block in the process of development.
Several resolutions were also adopted in the meeting which included maintaining a table for Janani Suraksha Yojna (JSY) at all health centres, to contribute funds and build nurses quarter where lacking, to maintain kitchen garden at the sub-centres, to hold the Village Health and Nutrition Day (VHND) diligently and to organise social work in the villages atleast twice a year. Speaking to the nurses present in the meeting, deputy director emphasises that the nurses played one of the most important role in the health sector, therefore requesting them to work conscientiously and to dedicate themselves in serving the people.
In a brief meeting with the Medical Officers (MOs), the deputy directors and deputy CMO appealed for proper supervision of health centres and patients in rural areas. They also advised on building sub-centres at the right places for accessibility to patients, to improve and monitor immunization, to give prime importance to leprosy patients, to register cases of deafness and to visit schools for proper health check-ups.  Awards were also given to nurses of Thronger and Chokla for best performance and to Longkhim MO for best performance among health centres.
