Vianney Day observed at Chumukedima

Diocesan priests of the Diocese of Kohima during the annual celebration of the Feast of St. John Mary Vianney.
 
Dimapur, August 4 (MExN): The annual celebration of the Feast of St. John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of all the Priests was celebrated this year on August 4 at St. Joseph Parish, Chumukedima. Fr. Loyola Antony informed in a press release that most of the diocesan priests of the Diocese of Kohima were present for this event.
The event was crowned with the eminent presence of the Bishop-Elect James Thoppil who was appointed by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI as the 3rd Bishop of Kohima recently. He celebrated the Holy Eucharist as the Main Celebrant which was well attended by a large number of Priests, Religious and Faithful. During the homily, the Bishop-elect reminded and invited the priests to realize their dignity as priests. He also exhorted the faithful to love their priests and pray for them.
After the Holy Mass, there was felicitation programme arranged in honour of all the priests to appreciate them for all their dedicated yet selfless service rendered to God and his people. The program also included various cultural items presented by the school students. The celebration ended with approximately three hours long meeting of Diocesan Fraternity which deliberated on important issues pertaining to the smooth running of the Diocese. Earlier, on August 3, the priests arrived at DAN, the Diocesan Social Service Centre at 4th Mile for the grand get together cum dinner. The invited guests were warmly welcomed by Rev. Fr. Sabu Chenackal, the Parish Priest.
