The deployment of IRB in Chattisgarh for internal law and order problem for containing the activities of the Naxalites does merit any justification and winds up to be a bloody political gamble that went wrong. The root cause of the problem is between the Government of India and the Naxalites. So long as the government fails to bring development for the poor peasants at Chattisgarh, the Naxalites will continue to agitate for centuries together. Under such a circumstance, our present government along with PHQ have deployed the IRB Jawans in an unfair situation leading to the loss of several precious lives. The point being that the Naxalites do not involve in conventional warfare but are been imparted or provided any special training and equipped accordingly. No matter how brave out Naga Jawans might be, under such a circumstance they are made to fight an unseen enemy in an unfair fight.
The Government in the very first place was very casual while raising the IRB units. Major part of the budget allotted for the training by the Ministry of Home Affairs was siphoned off for other purpose due to which training was inadequate and equipments were mostly outdated and rejected its items belonging to other Central Paramilitary forces probably procured at a throw away prices. Perhaps, the Government along with PHQ was shortsighted due to which the Jawans were not trained in anti-personnel mines nor provided with latest and sophisticated equipments to combat Naxal operations.
Sadly enough it has also been learned from reliable sources that the government. have even gone to the extend of cutting short of the training period as prescribed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. As per the Ministry of Home Affairs directive, the IRB units have to undergo 3 (Three) months Army Attachment and 2 (Two) months CRPF attachments in order to familiarize the IRB Jawans in both External and Internal Security. Inspite of this directive from MHA, the government along with the PHQ have taken a decision by denying and depriving the X and IX | IRB of their 2 (Two) months CRPF attachment which is as integral part of any IRB unit.
Perhaps, the parents of these Jawans can now ask rectifications from the Chief Minister, Home Minister and DGP Nagaland as to
1. Why their children were denied the CRPF attachment?
2. Where has the funds for 2 (two) months training gone?
Because sooner or later these Jawans might even land up in Jammu and Kashmir.
Enough politics have been played, colossal damages have been inflicted and the emotions/ sentiments of every tribe in Nagaland have been tested to the extend supreme, all because of the political gamble and foolishness of the present Chief Minister, Home Minister and DGP of Nagaland. Those who have lost their lives are long forgotten but those injured and maimed for life are yet another segment of traumatized sect of human zombies. The tragedy and untold misery of these injured and maimed personal is beyond human tolerance. These men were paid a few thousand Rupees for their bravery. Today these men are running from post to pillar for their treatment and recovery and yet they also have children to feed and educate all for the failures and foolishness of an insensitive system. The NPHMR and NSF are requested to take personal verification regarding this issue and highlight the problems at a larger arena.
Enough is enough and the Chief Minister, Home Minister and DGP of Nagaland should immediately withdraw the IRB from Chattisgarh and refuse all further deployment. The Chief Minister, Nagaland fails to realize that the IRB is one force which is represented by every tribe of Nagaland. As such, the emotions and sentiments of almost every tribe in Nagaland have been touched. The Chief Minister, Nagaland should also know that his colleagues are from different tribes who were in turn elected by the people. Loyalties might change if the public put pressure. Remember, Election is just round the corner. Thenucho and J.Changkija might still remember what khata khati and post retirement revenge means. May wisdom prevail. “VIN-CIT OM-NIA VERI-TAS”
