Vigilance body cautions on fund misuse

Dimapur, April 25 (MExN):  Village development bodies as well as committees of the Land Resource department, PHED in towns and villages, among others, are told to maintain proper records of funds and their use.  The Vigilance & Monitoring Committee of the Rural Development department issued a notice today warning that failing to maintain fund-use and accountability would entail scrutiny at the Chief Minister’s level and accrue action in the form of cancellation of appointments.

“The VDB Secretaries, the village-level watershed committee chairmen of the Land resource department and also the WATSAN committee chairmen of the PHED, residing in towns or outside the village were asked to go to their respective villages at the earliest for proper maintenance of records and for judicious use of Ministry of Rural Development funds,” member of the vigilance committee S Richard Humtsoe stated in the notice.

Failing to do as directed would invite the matter to be taken up with the chief minister and chairman of SLV&MC Rural Development department which would tantamount to cancellation of the appointment orders, the notice said. The VCMs and GBs are advised to strictly adhere to the notice for the welfare and betterment of the village.

The district administration and the officers concerned of the line departments are also asked to take serious note of this notification as official audit and programme implementation reports are on throughout the State by the Government of India-nominees of SLV&MC members. The move is for better implementation of the programs under the Ministry of Rural Development for Nagaland state, the vigilance committee stated.
