Defeat Manipur by an innings and 251 runs
 

 

Dimapur, October 18 (MExN): A match-haul of 11 wickets by Khrievitso Kense and a scintillating double century knock by Yugandhar in the first innings gifted Nagaland a resounding win against Manipur in the ongoing U-16 Boys Vijay Merchant Trophy. 


On October 18, they defeated Manipur by an Innings and 251 runs, with a day to spare in their North-East and Bihar Zone, Season 2019-20 encounter at NCA Stadium, Sovima Dimapur, with a day to spare.


Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, Manipur could manage only a  measly 83 runs in their first innings. 
Kense lead the bowling attack by scalping 5 wickets.

 
In reply, Nagaland put a huge1st innings total of 440 runs, with a solid double century knock by Yugandhar (241 runs), while Yash added 51.


Manipur poor run continued in the 2nd innings as they could not contain another brilliant blowing spell from Kense and they were bowled out for 106 runs in 62.4 overs.


He improved upon his 1st innings exploit by taking 6 wickets and ensured that his team completed the task a day ahead. 


This is the second consecutive win for Nagaland with an innings and a day to spare. In the inaugural match, Nagaland defeated Arunachal  Pradesh by an innings and 321 runs on October 12. A match haul of 8 wickets by Neizekho Rupreo ensured the victory. 


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has allotted the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) to host Vijay Merchant Trophy four matches. Nagaland is currently leading the point tables with 4 points from two matches. 


Nagaland will play Mizoram Next from October 23 to 25. The fourth and final match is against Sikkim from October 31 to November 2.
