It has been a matter of regret that a certain Konyak citizen, a resident of Mon village has broken the age long practiced customary law of the soil. He divorced his wife by biting the Dao, which as per the Konyak customary law, is the last sign of a promise to resolve a dispute between husband and wife. Yet, it has been found that he didn’t keep the promise and compelled the wife to stay with him till date.
In Konyak customary law, biting the Dao and eating the earth is the last judgment to resolve a dispute between the land owners, husband and wife.
Now if this person who is a Dobashi and a guardian of the customary law of the tribe violate it, then what about the general public? This will certainly lead to a crisis and shatter the social bond within the tribe.
Hence, all Konyak Nagas should think it properly and take necessary steps so that no one can violate these customary laws under any circumstances.
