VIT scores big in QS 2021 Subject Ranking

Vellore, March 6 (MExN): The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) was ranked among the top 12 institutions of India in Engineering and Technology and within the top 450 Universities in the World as per QS Subject Ranking 2021, a press release from the institute informed.  

Seven subjects of VIT are in the list published by QS this year and four subjects - Computer Science & Information Systems (CS&IS), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Chemistry - have moved up 50 positions as compared to last year, it said.  

Among others, CS&IS and EEE are ranked within the top 10 in India, while the latter is ranked within the top 300 in the world ranking, both CS&IS and ME are ranked within the top 400 in the world, it added.

VIT's Mathematics and Biological Sciences have entered in QS Subject Ranking for the first time and are ranked within the top 500 and 600 in the world respectively, stated the release from N Arun Kumar, Assistant  Director, Corporate Communication & Media Relations, VIT.  

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 cover a total of 51 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas and are compiled annually to help prospective students to identify the leading universities in a particular subject. Among others, research citations, h index along with the results of major global surveys of employers and academicians are used to rank universities.
