‘Voice of the infected should be cared’

Mokokchung, May 21 (MExN): The Network of Mokokchung District People Living with HIV/AIDS (NMP+) observed the 29th international candlelight memorial service under the theme, “Promoting Health and Dignity Together” at the NMP+ conference Hall. Rev Temsu S, Pastor Alempang Baptist Arogo was the guest speaker.

Dr. Amenla Medical Officer, ARTC IMDH said that the voice of the infected should be cared. He presented on how Government is providing ART for the infected ones and she encouraged the people to make access to this treatment centers. Makshi District Program coordinator (DAPCU) highlighted the key issue areas for candle light advocacy platform. He said 7 millions people are globally living with HIV/AIDS on treatment and 15 millions needed urgent treatments. He also echoed the need of attention towards the orphan, vulnerable children, ID users and sex workers. Managing Director, Imchawati Care & Support Society shared information received from the local networt of people living with HIV/AIDS. He also presented the UNAIDS estimate of HIV/AIDS status and the HIV scenario of Nagaland. He also spoke on promoting Health & Dignity Together and challenged to stand together to fight against this virus. Rev. Temsu S Pastor ABA spoke basing on the theme and challenged the believers in Christ to be compassionate and understanding toward the conflicting issues.

The programme was attended by various organizations and individuals; DAPCU, C&SS, MUN, Gaurdian Angel, ARTC, Alempang Baptist Arogo, Life Fountain Centre, CCC, Chairman Lijaba Lijen, Clients and NMP+ Staffs. In the conclusion, Toshi Sangpi, President NMP+ initiated the lighting of the candles to remember loved ones who passed away of HIV/AIDS.
