Honouring the successful journey of 50 years, the V&V Club celebrated its golden jubilee at Bamboo Hall, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama near Kohima on April 18, with speakers calling for renewed unity, resilience and continued service to society.

Addressing the event, Advisor for Printing & Stationery and Prisons, Er Kropol Vitsu, lauded the club for completing 50 years and its contributions to society. He stressed the need to build resilient communities for a sustainable future and described the club as one of the most respected organisations in the Southern Angami region.

Recalling the unity and discipline of villages in the Japfüphiki region, he urged members to uphold those values and align with the principles of the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO). He also called on members to continue contributing to the welfare of the wider community.

MLA Kevipodi Sophie said the club was founded to bring people together for mutual support and emphasised the need for concrete plans to better serve society. He said the jubilee should be a moment for introspection as well as planning for future growth.

SAPO president Er Tepul Hopovi described the 50-year milestone as a stage reflecting leadership and experience. He said the club has evolved into a body of mature and responsible members and urged them to use their experience to strengthen unity in the community.

Speaking on the occasion, Golden Jubilee Committee convenor Nosazol Charles said the V&V Club, established in 1976, emerged from bonds of friendship among individuals from Southern Angami villages. He noted that the club has grown into an inclusive organisation with members drawn from all 13 villages of the region.

Charles said the club combines experienced members with younger, energetic participants and expressed hope that it would continue undertaking welfare initiatives for the benefit of society. He urged members to move forward with renewed purpose and work collectively for a more peaceful and cohesive community.

Earlier, Executive Engineer of the Tourism Department, Er Vizoto Seletsu, released the club’s souvenir.

The programme was chaired by Vilekho Bio, member secretary, while Rev Fr Leo Chase, Assistant Parish Priest of Cathedral Kohima, delivered the invocation. V&V Club president Khisanol Viswentso gave the welcome address and advisor Vizopalie Sale proposed the vote of thanks.
