Peren | December 8: Planning Minister TR Zeliang urged the women organizations to patiently wait as the NPF led DAN government is yet to work out detailed working plan and system as to how the 33% women reservation will best be implemented in the state. Speaking during the 6th NPF Peren convention at Jalukie, the Minister said the government respects the court order and that NPF led DAN will not ‘stand on the way’ that will impede women reservation.
But until such comprehensive strategy is worked out and government notification is issued, it is not wise to start recruiting candidates, he said while urging the women organizations to be tolerant enough for the government to formally issue notification and instructions.
The Minister also expressed satisfaction for the fact that Peren district has not submitted any women candidature. “Wait, let time come; be procedural” he said. The Minister while also hitting back at the opposition’s cynical comment on extension of NPF to Naga inhabited districts of Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, expressed his concern that the Nagas have broader vision to opt for 3 Lok Sabha seats from the three states so as to get one ministerial berth at the Centre. “Three is to one” the minister said while insisting people not to blindly oppose policies in the name of opposition.
