Mon, February 20 (MExN): The first sports and games meet of New Model College, Wakching, was held on February 21 with the theme “Team Spirit and Harmony.”
Yonglong Chemshe, VDB Secretary, Lampong Wakching, who graced the occasion as the guest of honour, said the event marks the laying of a foundation not only for trophies and medals but for character, discipline and shared identity, an official statement said.
Addressing the gathering, Chemshe emphasized that no meaningful success is ever achieved alone and that team spirit is about trusting one another and learning to step forward when needed and step back when necessary.
“In any team, every role matters. Whether you are leading from the front or supporting quietly from behind, true strength is collective,” he said.
He further stated that harmony is not the absence of competition but the presence of respect, adding that in sports, harmony means discipline, self-control and fairness.
“It means celebrating victory without arrogance and accepting defeat without bitterness. Dignity in defeat often speaks louder than pride in victory,” Chemshe remarked.
Observing that the students are shaping the culture of the college through this first sports event, he urged them to set a standard of mutual respect and encouragement for future batches.
The VDB Secretary also noted that the college stands as a reflection of the hopes and aspirations of Wakching and the surrounding community.
He expressed hope that New Model College would be known not only for academic excellence but for producing individuals who value teamwork, leadership, resilience and harmony.
