Ward authorities in Chümoukedima directed to hold mandatory social work

Unregulated developmental activities, lack of civic sense clogging drains, observes CTC

Chümoukedima, September 27 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Town Council today observed that flooding of roads in most cases within its jurisdiction is being caused by unregulated developmental activities and a general lack of civic sense.

It is being caused not due to the lack of drainages but due to blockages and non maintenance of existing drains and obstructions, stated EAC and CTC Administrator, Seviekhrietuo Solo in a circular, adding that the council is currently in the process of surveying all drainage within its jurisdiction.

In this connection, the Administrator directed all ward Authorities to mandatorily carry out a social work on September 29 with three specific objectives: clearing of clogged drains; reclamation of old original drainages blocked and left unused; and clearing of inlets of storm water drains.

Furthermore, after completion of the social work, the CTC will inspect all wards and initiate measures accordingly, the Administrator added.
