Kohima, July 19 (MExN): A friendly debate among football enthusiasts on a WhatsApp group culminated in a unique futsal match between Argentina supporters and Anti-Argentina supporters at the D Khel Ground Futsal Court in Pusolieke, Kohima Village.
Organised by Lazami Football Lovers on July 18, the event saw 68 football enthusiasts participate.
According to the organisers, the match was conceived after football fans frequently teased one another over Argentina and other football teams in an online chat group. Instead of continuing the debate online, they decided to settle it through a friendly game on the futsal court.
The closely contested match ended with the Anti-Argentina Fans defeating the Argentina Fans 12-11.
In a light-hearted gesture, the winners were presented with a steel plate as the championship trophy.
The organisers said the event was aimed at promoting friendship, healthy competition and sportsmanship among football lovers and expressed hope of organising similar programmes in the future.
