Dimapur, December 8 (MExN): The Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (W/C, NNPGs) led by N Kitovi Zhimomi issued a formal declaration confirming the split within the NSCN/GPRN (Akato). The declaration, issued on December 8, stated that attempts to resolve “personal and administrative differences” between President Akato Chophi and Ato Kilonser K Michael were unsuccessful.
However, it said that “considering the critical juncture in the Indo-Naga political matter,” the W/C, NNPGs leadership took a conscious decision to accommodate both Chophi and Michael as equal and independent entities under its fold.
Despite the separation, it said, “Both the leaders have pledged unflinching support and cooperation to WC, NNPGs’ demand for an early, honorable and acceptable Indo-Naga solution based on negotiated political and administrative contents…”
According to the W/C, NNPGs, both leaders remain “equal stakeholders” and partners within the alliance, with the NSCN/GPRN led by Ato Kilonser, Michael as the tenth affiliate under the convenorship of N Kitovi Zhimomi.
