The Wokha District Football Association (WDFA) on Tuesday held a press conference to inform about preparations for its forthcoming football tournament.
The association informed that team registration began on January 5 and will continue till January 20. The draw of fixtures will be conducted on January 24, while the tournament is scheduled to kick off on January 28.
WDFA announced a total prize pool of Rs 3.75 lakh for this year’s tournament. The winning team will receive Rs 2 lakh, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 1 lakh. The two losing semifinalists will receive Rs 25,000 each. In addition, five individual awards of Rs 5,000 each will also be presented.
The association stated that the tournament has been organised locally over the years and appealed to well-wishers and supporters to contribute towards the smooth conduct of the event by contacting the officials.
Meanwhile, the Technical Committee appealed to players to register under the Centralised Registration System (CRS). Players are required to submit Aadhaar and PAN cards along with attested birth certificates and passport-size photographs for CRS registration. The association stated that CRS registration would aid player identification and transfer processes, adding that in future, players without CRS cards will not be eligible to participate in recognised tournaments.
Later in the day, WDFA also held a meeting with the Wokha District Referee Board.
