‘We all follow one constitution, salute one flag’

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN(Khango-Vusshe) observed its 79th Naga Independence Day at the CFSB premises on Thursday, with Kilo Kilonser Viniho Kiho hoisting the Naga National Flag as chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Kiho stressed the need for unity among Naga political groups, saying, “No matter how many groups we have today, we all follow one constitution and salute one flag. The Government of India will give only one solution, so the Naga political groups should collectively work towards this end.”

Ato Kilonser Hokato Vusshe, in his address, called for all Naga political groups, civil society organisations, and the public to “come under one umbrella” to bring the political dialogue to its logical conclusion. He urged leaders to set aside personal differences and political ideologies to find common ground, “keeping the desires of the Naga people for peace and development above personal interests.”

He accused the Government of India of giving “false promises” and dividing the Nagas with “sinister motives,” cautioning that without vigilance, “we will become a mere tool of our adversary and our struggle for identity will remain stagnant.”

The statement also urged the Nagaland government not to “mislead the Naga people” and to stand true to the cause. “Our cause is sacred… we will never tolerate it being contaminated by petty politics,” it said, calling the present “an opportune moment” for the State government to deliver on its promises for an early solution.
