We Care: The concert with a cause

The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), the apex body of the Ao Students’ community will be organizing the third ‘We Care’ concert on November 4, 2011 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung in aid of ‘Ao Milen’, the oldest vernacular newspaper in Northeast India, and the oldest newspaper in Nagaland published since 1932.
This year’s edition of the concert dubbed ‘We Care III - Autumn Musicale’ is being organized in aid of the Ao Milen. “The official organ of the AKM” published six days a week from Mokokchung. The paper has undergone a lot of ups and downs over the years, but the AKM has rededicated themselves to keep the paper alive. At present the Ao Milen is an eight page tabloid sized newspaper printed in black and white from the Ao Milen printing press in Mokokchung.
Ao Milen is a saga in itself, a household newspaper name in Mokokchung that has been disseminating news, information and education to the masses since its inception in 1932 by the visionary pioneers.
While the countdown to the much awaited nears, and the citizens of Mokokchung gears up to show solidarity with the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang once again in its third We Care concert, surely the legacy of the AKM pioneers will be acknowledged as the AKM indirectly pays rich tribute to the founding fathers of Ao Milen which had played a great role in shaping Ao society and moulding public opinion ever since its inception. November 4th musicale, if judged by the success of the previous editions of ‘We Care’ concerts, will surely be a night of solidarity as people are expected to turn up by the thousands to witness local artists belting out their favourite local hit songs live on stage.

The artistes for the night are:
