Suruhuto, March 22 (MExN): The President of the NSCN/GPRN, SS Khaplang reaffirmed their long standing pledge and commitment to its pursuit for sovereignty and stated that the formation of the “so-called Naga National Government by some groups without participation of other Naga groups will not work.”
The NSCN/GPRN celebrated Naga Republic Day on March 21 at its Suruhuto designated camp with Hokato Vusshe, Kilonser as the chief guest, who read out the presidential speech. In his message to the people on the Naga Republic Day, President Khaplang informed that they will continue to stand and support other oppressed people of the Indo-Burma region who “aspire for freedom and share a common political ideology.”
Khaplang stated that Nagas are “not a lost people because we have never been submerged into the ocean” by the Indians and Myanmarese. He, however, pointed out the Naga political history could have been buried in the signing of the Shillong Accord, but said that “our Almighty God saved us from perishing through few chosen leaders who timely restored our Nation by forming a socialist government in the year 1980 in Eastern Nagaland.” Khaplang cautioned that even today, negative forces are continuously playing a destructive role to weaken the Nagas, but, added “it will not succeed because nobody can destroy the political and historical rights of the Nagas.”
While pointing out that the Government of India and NSCN (IM) talks will end in failure, “because it is not a Naga’s talk,” the president added that “the NSCN on her part publicly declare that, it will not be part of the GOI and NSCN (IM) solution because it will only be a sell-out solution.” However, he asserted that they “will continue to strive for Naga unification based on political and historical rights of the Nagas and also if other Naga groups are honest.”
Kilonser Hokato Vusshe while speaking on the occasion strongly asserted that the NSCN (K) has never betrayed the Naga political cause and it stands for the Naga sovereignty till today. He declared that even if some political groups want to betray the Naga political cause, the NSCN (K) strongly stands for the sovereignty, for Independence and complete liberation of the Naga people and will never betray this aspiration.
High ranking officials including Lt General Nikki Sumi and others along with public leaders and villagers from surrounding areas attended the programme.
