What are Nagaland Govt’s visions for unemployed, entrepreneurs and farming sectors? NPCC poses

Kohima, March 9 (MExN): The Public Grievances Department (PDG) of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today asked a series of questions to the State Government regarding its concerns towards educated unemployed youths, entrepreneurs and farming sectors.

Among others, it asked whether the Nagaland Government has any visions to generate employment avenues by establishing factories industries and small scale developments or streamline financial loans and facilities for youth to avail from the financial institutions under the guardianship of the Government.

It further wondered whether the State Government is undertaking any memorandum of understanding (MoU) for marketing outlets with the other states especially for the farming products.

"Or the State Government have no option but to accommodate all the unemployed youths to the state government departments with the excess appointments making access expenses of without having and scope of expansions and avoiding the developmental works in the states?" it further posed rhetorically.

The PGD, NPCC also wondered whether the State Government continues to make excuses of law and order problems, blaming “unwanted elements extortionist activities” without realising who is governing.

Can the state of Nagaland continue to become the champion state in the blame games without any constructive sense of achievements between law makers, bureaucrats, and the citizen and vice-versa? It added.

Citing the Annual Administrative report of 2020/2021 of the State’s Personal & Administrative (P&AR) Department, the PGD, NPCC noted  out of 1,44,177 government employees in 82 departments, 1,21,207 are working employees and 22,970 are non-working employees.

Where are those 22,970 non-working employees? Why not accommodate the deserving genuine educated youths against those non-working employees? it stated.

It further wanted to know the “stand and actions” taken against the non-working employees by the State Government and questioned its silence over the “serious issue.”

The PGD, NPCC further alleged that the state is in excess of 70,000 government employees against the Union Ministry of Finance guidelines, which stipulated that salary for employees should not excess to more than 35% of the total budget.

But at present the State Government expenses on salary is roughly 65% of the total budget and only 35% budget remains for development works, it maintained.

The PGD, NPCC further highlighted that the ratio of government employees to total population is highest in North-East.

To this end, it noted that each citizen needs to have a sense of responsibilities to ponder upon these menaces, especially in the field of employment avenues for upcoming generation.

Can we not change as rational citizens and elect visionary leaders irrespective of the parties or colors not with money and muscle power, with true conscious vote? NPCC-PGD further posed.

The NPCC stands committed with visions and with true conscious of leadership to serve the citizens of the State, it said, while urging the voters and citizens of the State specially the youths to restore the glory of truth and honour of the Nagas society.

“Let's remember if you pin point one finger against your fellow leaders, another three fingers will pin point against you for your mistakes and misdeeds,” added the release from PGD, NPCC Chairman S Supongmeren and Co-chairman, Kedou Watsah.
