The hard earn ceasefire between the GOI and NSCN (IM) after more than 50 years of untold suffering borne by the Naga people is on the verge of disastrous breakdown. While every effort is being made with all sincerity by the two entities to bring political solution once and for all, there are certain elements who wanted to sabotage the current peace process that is yielding positive outcome.
The Naga politicians are shouting at the top their voice for political sett1ement of this long impending Indo-Naga political problem are not sincere in what they are propagating. These hypocrite Naga politicians are misleading the general public. They are using every weapons in their disposal to retain their seat of power within Indian government to serve their selfish interest at the expense of the Naga people’s right for self-determination.
Naga NGOs (Civil societies) are also not being sincere in their approval to Naga political problem. They are not informing the Naga people the truth on Indo-Naga political negotiation currently undergoing between NSCN (IM) and GOI. Instead they are trying to earn goodwill of al1 the factions by holding meetings with all creating confusion among the Naga people.
Naga intellectual are also not interpreting the true picture of the present Naga political scenario. They are the elite group who is misleading the Naga people through writing specially in newspaper based on tribal lines. Sowing the read of tribalism and hatred among the Nagas.
It is high time every Naga irrespective of tribe, religions denomination, political affiliation NGOs and faction join hands together and strengthened the peace process to being final Indo-Naga political settlement.
Lastly, Naga should not forget the 1964 ceasefire which could not bring any substantial solution due to difference among the leader of various Naga tribes. Let us retrospect our past mistake and make necessary amend through unity to achieve the long pending aspiration of ever Naga quest for self-determination. Otherwise, Naga political may become another “East Timor”.
