DIMAPUR, FEB 19 (MExN): A widow has asked the Naga Women Hoho to intervene in her quest for justice. Subra Nath, a widow and a mother, is appealing for help against “torture, harassment and the illegal activities” meted out on her by her brother-in-law and mother-in-law named Debasish Nath and Parul Nath respectively. Parul’s husband, Subroto Nath, was killed by his immediate brother Debasish on June 5, 1997 for which he was convicted and jailed.
After the death of her husband, the mother in-law and her sons had decided to give the land which lies in Duncan Bosti to Subra’s minor children as a gift deed.
“Thereafter when the accused Debashish Nath came out of Jail, he started giving me mental torture, threatening from other sources to take back the said land,” the widow complained. In the year 2004 Debashish and his mother Parul Nath lodged a complaint in the ‘underground Court’. “After long verification the underground Court had given the Judgment in favour of my children,” Subra said. “Again in 2005, the accused had lodged a case in the D.C. Court Dimapur; there also after prolonged verification the Judgment was given in favour of my child.” Thereby after getting Judgment from all the Justice Tables, Subra temporarily enjoyed peace of mind with the notion that the possession of the land remained in her children’s name. “Being the helpless widow having no proper source of income for survival of my children and me, I had decided and given my land and house on rental basis.” On doing so, Debashish Nath and his mother again filed a case in the court and a summons was sent to Subra on February 6 this year.
The Naga Women Hoho has been requested to look into the matter seriously “and take strong action against the culprit and justify me and my two minor children for their survival.”
