Peren | March 5
Anticipating the onslaught of various developmental activities from the Government towards the welfare of the area’s populace, the old Jalukie Village leaders have heartily endorsed the verdict of the Zeliangrong Hoho on the site selection of Jalukie as district headquarters of Peren.
According to a reliable source, expert technocrats from Government agencies would be scrutinising the blue print of the model plan in collaboration with the Hoho’s chief town planner on receiving the green signal from the Commissioner of Nagaland.
Following the March 3 unanimous agreement by the Hoho as reported in The Morung Express, Tarie, MLA, 6 Tening A/C, Hoho dignitaries led by their President Denis Iheilung and Old Jalukie Village elders and youths underwent a day-long survey here yesterday.
The Hoho team was content with the site considering the geographical topography and its strategic location which would be most viable for the all round development of the area.
It may be mentioned that the proposed site was selected after negotiations and mutual agreement with the land owners of Old Jalukie. “It is a blessing in disguise,” said one of the village elders. “But why only 20 (twenty) Square Kilometres, take 60 to 70 Square Kilometres if it is the right site,” he added.
The epicentre of the site is likely to fall on the reserved forest of the Jalukie Students’ Union located 3 to 4 kilometres away from Jalukie Town towards the south and whose tentacles are likely to spread across pockets of land lying between Nkwakreo river(East)and Mungleu river (West).
