Kohima, September 17 (MExN): The Cabinet of the government of Nagaland has appealed to the Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) to “withdraw their agitation and cooperate with the Government” in order to enable the clearing of all “genuine liabilities”.
Having discussed the ongoing agitation by NCSU, the Cabinet has decided that “the contractors’ bills which were included in the DLVC verification list, under Housing department, will not be verified by the SIT of Vigilance Commission.” This was mentioned in a letter from the Commissioner & Secretary, Temjen Toy, of the Works & Housing Department of the State to the President of the NCSU. However, said the letter, “as all these bills have become very old and time barred, each and every bill shall have to be scrutinized again by the Department to satisfy themselves that the liabilities were incurred by following codal formalities.”
All liabilities incurred in Housing Department, included in the DLVC verification list, shall be paid after “the work order, the budget provision at that time, the inclusion of the work in the Works Programme of the relevant year, the approval of the Government for taking up the work where budget provision is not there at the time, the relevant records of the MB etc” have been furnished by the concerned work division for “proper scrutiny”.
Temjen Toy has further conveyed that “the SIT of the Vigilance Commission set up to verify the pending liabilities in the other departments as demanded by the NCSU will be completed at the earliest, so that payments can be made against the bills found genuine.”
