Dimapur, May 13 (MExN): The Western Lasumi Union (WLU) has condemned the alleged physical assault, vandalism of a vehicle, and mental harassment of one of its members, Wekupe Therie, during an incident on the evening of May 2 at Naga United Village.
Therie is also president of the Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation and adviser to the Western Naga Youth Front.
Condemning the alleged act, the WLU described Therie as a peace-loving individual committed to the welfare of society, and expressed concern over what it termed the growing tendency of individuals to take the law into their own hands.
The Union stated that such acts pose a threat to public safety and called for those involved to face due legal consequences.
The WLU also expressed appreciation to various organisations and individuals for extending support to its member and appealed for continued solidarity until justice is delivered.
It further acknowledged the authorities for the prompt apprehension of the prime accused and expressed confidence that the remaining alleged accomplices would be arrested soon, allowing the law to take its course.
