Wokha, June 10 (MExN): The Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED), Wokha under the Engorotchu Water Supply Plan is reportedly providing water to 712 household of consumers within Wokha town. This was highlighted in the Wokha District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting held at DC Conference Hall on June 9, stated a DIPR report.
Presenting the status report on Engorotchu Water Supply Plan, Executive Engineer (EE) Wokha, Imnazulu Ao said that with the installation of Engorotchu water plant and Etsutchuckha, the department is supplying to 712 household of consumers within Wokha town and the department is trying its best to increase the number of households. Engorotchu Water Supply Plan was inaugurated on October 12, 2018, the report stated.
Advisor for Law & Justice and Chairman DPDB, Dr Chumben Murry in his opening remark pointed out that the citizens of Wokha town are facing insufficient water supply. He urged the department to improve and increase the total number of households as there are over 7000 households within the town.
‘Need to change standard of edu’
Meanwhile, Dr Murry said that the district needs to change the standard of education. It is the responsibility of all the stakeholders to contribute their best to improve from the present status, which he said, has not changed in the last decade or so. He encouraged the Education Department, Wokha to work with whatever resources are available in the district and also project needs of the district in general.
Dr Murry suggested the department to form Education Committee including educationist from the district, Lotha Hoho, Eloe Hoho, LSU and other stakeholders of the district to improve the education system in the district.
District Education Officer, Wokha, N Wopenthung Lotha while highlighting the District HSLC and HSSLC result 2022, said that the pass percentage of Government High School is just 19.6% and HSSLC is 54.4%.
Advisor for Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan suggested to organise workshops to identify the loopholes and improve the performance of HSLC and HSSLC results in Wokha. The board decided to entrust the Education Department, Wokha to organise a seminar before June 15.
Earlier, the meeting was chaired by vice-chairman and DC Wokha, Orenthung Lotha. It also approved the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) for the year 2022-23.
