The Wokha District Bharat Scouts & Guides (WDBS&G) inducted its new office bearers during a formal ceremony held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on June 1.

The programme commenced with the Scouts and Guides prayer, followed by a welcome address delivered by Raphael Zubonthung, District Education Officer and District Chief Commissioner of WDBS&G.

The induction ceremony was conducted by T Zuchanthung Lotha, District Organising Commissioner (Scout). During the programme, K Mhathung Tsanglao, NCS, Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, was formally installed as the District President of WDBS&G, while Nchumbemo Jami, Senior Sub-Divisional Officer, took charge as the District Secretary.

Addressing the gathering, the newly inducted District President highlighted the importance of the Scouts and Guides movement in nurturing responsible, disciplined, and service-minded citizens. He assured his support towards strengthening and expanding the organisation’s activities across the district.

In his remarks, the District Secretary stressed the need to broaden the reach of the movement by establishing more Scout and Guide units, particularly in private educational institutions, to encourage greater youth participation.

As part of the programme, awards were presented in recognition of exemplary contributions to the Scouts and Guides movement. Zuben Tsopoe of Cistus School received the Best Unit Leader (Scout Master) award, while Areni Humtsoe of LMS was honoured as Best Unit Leader (Guide Captain). The Best Unit Award was presented to Cistus School, Wokha, for its outstanding performance and contribution to scouting activities.

The event also featured a special presentation by the Scouts and Guides of Cistus School, showcasing their skills and commitment to the ideals of the movement.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Z. Libenthung Murry, Scout Master of GMS Wokha Town ‘D’, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The proceedings were compered by Sulanbeni Kikon, Guide Captain of PM Shri GHS Wokha Village.
