Wokha, May 14 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Wokha held its monthly meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall on May 14 under the chairmanship of Agriculture Advisor Mhathung Yanthan and Deputy Commissioner K Mhathung Tsanglao.
Addressing the meeting, Yanthan highlighted the importance of DPDB meetings in shaping developmental activities in the district and urged members to actively participate in discussions and share ideas to ensure an inclusive approach.
He also suggested that departments prepare PowerPoint presentations to help members better understand departmental activities and ongoing projects.
The advisor further said that visits to institutions and departments to review their functioning would continue under his chairmanship to improve effectiveness and accountability.
Deputy Commissioner K Mhathung Tsanglao, who attended his first DPDB meeting after assuming office, introduced himself to the members and stressed the importance of regular attendance and cooperation among departments for the overall development of the district.
The meeting began with a review of the previous month’s discussions, including identification of land for the proposed construction of a new district hospital.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Wokha Renbomo Ezung, chairman of the committee on the matter, briefed members on feasible locations identified for the hospital project.
The board also discussed concerns relating to the Doyang Polytechnic Institution, where landslides and mudslides have reportedly posed serious threats to campus structures, faculty members and students.
With several buildings said to be at risk of collapse, the house resolved to constitute a committee to assess the situation and recommend immediate remedial measures.
Members further deliberated on the shortage of Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus services in Wokha district, which has affected connectivity to several villages, officials said.
