WOKHA, OCTOBER 12 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for Wokha district was held on October 10, attended by Deputy Chief Minister and DPDB Chairman Y Patton, Advisor Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan, and MLA Y M Humstoe.
Patton appreciated the efforts of DC Wokha and DPDB members in organising the first-ever Banana Festival, scheduled from October 22 to 24, and advised extending invitations to all heads of departments and ministers of agriculture and allied sectors.
Mhathung Yanthan stressed the importance of liaison officers in coordinating guests, dignitaries, scientists, and officials from national institutes and highlighted that their efforts would enhance the district’s image. He also noted that several companies have expressed interest in displaying advanced agricultural tools, machinery, seeds, and manure, subject to logistical support from the host district.
DC Wokha, Vineet Kumar IAS, reported that over 100 stalls from within and outside Nagaland will showcase the diversity of bananas and banana products, including more than 20 varieties. He added that over 30 premier technical institutions and marketing bodies from across India will conduct workshops, demonstrations, and farmers’ training sessions during the festival.
Lotha Eloe Hoho President Thungbeni Ngully requested that the Miss Wokha 2025 event, scheduled for November 3, be included in the DPDB agenda, and called for support from members and organisations.
Other highlights of the meeting included a presentation by DAPCU on the HIV scenario in Wokha district, a briefing by DEO Wokha on the demerger of Government Primary School upper NST, and presentations by the Land Resource and Labour Departments on ongoing projects and activities.
