Wokha, Kohima ASHAs trained on paediatric care in COVID-19

Wokha, August 23 (MExN): Training on Paediatric care in COVID-19 and psychological wellness was organised by medical department for NUHM and Wokha sadar ASHAs at CMO Conference hall, Wokha on August 23.

A press release from CMO office Wokha stated that Dr Zuben Kikon, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Wokha highlighted on the vulnerability of children to the delta variant of COVID-19 during the third wave. Dr Kikon emphasized on good nutrition for children to boost the immune system and also noted on the need to avoid exposing children to the disease at crowded public spaces. “Vaccination of age appropriate group is the key to control the spread,” he concluded. 

The sessions were taken by District Community Mobilizer, Echungbeni Tsanglao and Block ASHA Coordinator, Mhonlumi Kithan. Topics on care for mother and neonates baby born with COVID-19, checklist for surveillance and monitoring by ANM and ASHAs and IMNCI approach to a Paediatric case were taken during the training. DCM Echungbeni informed that similar trainings will be held in other blocks across the district till Friday for all the ASHAs. 

Kohima: Chief Medical Officer, Kohima office along with District Health Society, NHM, Department of Health & Family Welfare conducted training for Urban Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) on Paediatric Care in COVID-19 at PMTI hall on August 23.

The training major components were for preparedness and management of neonates of COVID-19 related. In the training, ASHAs were taught on the preparedness and management of any sudden surge of COVID-19 care. They were also trained on the danger signs, surveillance, signs and symptoms of COVID in Paediatric age group children, prevailing myths conception of COVID-19 in children.  ASHAs were also informed about the roles and responsibilities in the ward, colonies and community. 

The Urban ASHAs were trained by Urban Consultant, Subonglemla Jamir and DCM Rokoseno Thapo.
