Wokha orgs condemns assault on businessman

Dimapur, December 6 (MExN): Organizations from Wokha today denounced what they said is the assault of a non-local businessmen, a Sohitul Rahman, by some Wokha youths in NST colony on “23rd Dec o11.”
The Wokha Chamber of Commerce Association (WCCA) denounced the alleged crime by a number of persons all said to be from Riphyim village. “The victim was taken to remote area near by NST Colony where he was brutally assaulted and a ransom of Rs. 10,000 was demanded. With the timely intervention (led) by Nrithung Tsanglao Town Commands (NSCN-IM) Lotha Region, the victim was rescued,” the association said in a note today.
The association said a joint meeting with the Kyong Hoho, Kyong Eloe Hoho, Kyong Students’ Union, and Youth Association of Wokha District (YAWD) was also held on December 5 in connection with the incident. The WCCA stated that resorting “to such kinds of action of harassing and threatening the business community have created chaos and panic among the business community.” The association appeals to all “recognized organization” to check such anti-social activities to maintain peace so the business community can “render goods service to the consumers.”
The association conveys a message of gratitude to the “town command” of the NSCN-IM for their timely intervention.
Also, the Youth Association of Wokha District (YAWD) denounced the incident and the act of the perpetrators. The association has assured that it would check all anti-social activities in and around its jurisdiction. They would be “punished and later, will be handed over to the administration,” a note from the association said.
