Wokha, December 29 (MExN): The 26th edition of Twenty-Twenty Winter Cricket Challenge (WCC) 2021-22 match commenced at Local Ground, Wokha on December 29. The formal inauguration was earlier done on December 22.
Reportedly, “the oldest reigning cricket tournament locally organized in Nagaland,” the tournament changed its theme to ‘Green Cover Drive’ from ‘Bowled out HIV/AIDS’ which was the theme for the past 25 years.
A total of 21 teams from various districts and players from different states are part of the tournament.
In the first match played between Royal Strikers Tsumang vs LCYO, winning the toss LCYO decided to bat first making a target of 102 runs, where Mhajan was the main contributor making 24 run for the team.
Ayush (35 runs) and Danish (19 run not out) recorded victory to the Royal Strikers Tsumang.
Akash from Royal Strikers Tsumang claimed the man of the match taking 5 wickets and one maiden over while bowling in his four over delivery.
The second match was played between Salix CC vs Imperials CC and Salix winning the toss opted to bad first scoring a target of 164 runs in the twenty over.
Senlong (39 runs) and Nchumthung (28 runs) were the main contributors to Salix CC. Bikram and Yanren of Imperials CC claimed three and two wickets each while bowling. Imperial CC chasing the target, lost the match to Salix CC won by four runs in the 19.5 over.
Hemari of Salix CC claimed three wickets in four over while bowling begged the man of the match in the second match of the day.
