The third edition of the Wokha District Inter-School Sepaktakraw Tournament, organised by the Wokha District Sepaktakraw Association (WDSA-Sepak), concluded on November 12 at the Public Ground, Wokha. Dr Thungdemo Kyong, Chief Team Metamorphosis and honorary member of WDSA-Sepak, graced the closing ceremony as the guest of honour.
Delivering the culmination and prize distribution address, Dr Kyong lauded WDSA-Sepak for successfully organising the tournament and commended the enthusiastic participation of students and schools. He encouraged the young players to become ambassadors of Sepaktakraw, describing it as a sport of agility and coordination that causes fewer injuries compared to many other games.
He further urged students to pursue sports alongside academics, stating that the youth of today could become future stars representing the district, state, and nation. Emphasising the importance of sportsmanship, Dr Kyong reminded the players that dedication, determination, patience, and focus are vital attributes, cautioning that short temper and anger can hinder both strategy and performance.
In his greetings, Yanrenthung Humtsoe, President of Wokha District Sports Association (WDSA), congratulated WDSA-Sepak for the successful conduct of the tournament. He acknowledged the active participation of schools and students as a positive sign of growth and progress in sports within the district. He also encouraged the students to uphold discipline, commitment, confidence, and integrity both on and off the field, assuring that WDSA would continue to support WDSA-Sepak in promoting sports and nurturing young talents.
