To facilitate road repair and development work, the Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar has ordered the temporary closure of the road stretch from Etsuchuka Water Source Junction to Jonsula (Wokha–Bokajan Road) for 14 days, starting from August 4 to August 17.
The official order, issued on July 30, stated that the closure is necessary to enable smooth execution of road repair, expansion, and maintenance of side drainage and retaining walls along the stretch.
All concerned departments, wards, colonies, and the general public have been informed to comply with the closure, and commuters are directed to use alternate routes, specifically the Wokha–Bokajan Road via UMTC and NST Road, during the period of repair.
The DC has requested public cooperation to ensure timely completion of the works. This directive follows growing concerns over deteriorating road conditions in the area.
Earlier on July 27, The Morung Express reported on the road condition of the Airfield Colony, Wokha, with residents urging authorities to urgently address the issue.
The road, which forms part of the Wokha–Bokajan route, is frequently used by students, teachers, and daily commuters, the report added.
