Kohima | August 30 : A one day workshop on “Promotion of Women Entrepreneurs” was held here today at Hotel Japfu under the aegis of Nagaland State Social Welfare Board and sponsored by Planning and Co-ordination Department.
Gracing the workshop as the chief guest, Norman Putsure, IAS, Department of Social Welfare and Team Leader Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency said that said women have an inbuilt capability and are highly potential candidates to be entrepreneurs stating the “women entrepreneurs has been recognized as a potential for success, he encouraged them to think globally and not locally. He also dwelt on the need to create awareness on entrepreneurship so that there is better understanding and opportunities among women and also felt that policy makers should listen to women entrepreneurs so as to look into problems faced by them.
“The policy of the government needs to be addressed in order to bring a speedy and needy development,” he said. He said that financial institutions should also come forward and back women entrepreneurs as without financial assistance business cannot expand. He further maintained that there should be affordable child care system to the women folks so as to enable them to take up entrepreneurship.
Putsure also released a book written by Meyisonla. Talking on the topic, ‘Why promotion of Women Entrepreneur,” Neichute Doulo, chairman, Entrepreneurs Associates encouraged the women to take advantage of the government’s initiative since the state government has declared 2010-2011 as the ‘Year of Entrepreneur’. Observing that women entrepreneurs are doing well in business ventures, Doulo urged the gathering to make use of the opportunities created by the government. Doulo also stressed on the need to possess a certain trademark to be a successful entrepreneur. “Honesty is the best trademark”, he asserted.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Atoli Veyie, vice chairperson, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board while M. Rhakila Lakiumong, Chairperson Nagaland State Social Welfare Board delivered welcome address. Vote of thanks was proposed by P. Daisy Mezhur, secretary Nagaland State Social Welfare Board.
