‘Women of Nagaland are second to none’

Stating that the Department of Women Resource Development has set another milestone by organising the 4th edition of Myki Fest especially for the women of Nagaland, V Kavito Zhimomi, Additional Director, WRD remarked that, “tonight, we have shown the world that women of Nagaland are second to none and can be equal partners of men.”

In his closing remark, he affirmed that, “Naga women can go far and go beyond the horizon.” Further expressing that it is a natural phenomenon in a competition for some to lose, he however commented that all those who participated in the competition are winners. He further commended the dedicated team of the department by saying, “well done!”

The two day Myki Fest was held at held at Sakhrie Park, Kohima on December 6 and 7. Earlier, Director of Women Resource Development, Vilone Sakhrie declared the result of the competition and gave away the prizes. Sentiein Kichu was adjudged winner of the Solo Singing Competition (English). She was awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while Runole Tep and Avikurhe Ngourie were adjudged the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. They were awarded cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 and all the participants were awarded with certificates.

It may be noted that there were 26 applicants for the competition out of which 12 were shortlisted to perform on the two day of the festival. Judges for the final competition were Virie, Vimezo Iralu and Andrew Ngully. Highlights of the event also included live performance by Brahmos Band.
